You may be wondering about my background and how one gets in to this line of work. I started my communications career in the United States Federal Government in Washington, DC, where I spent almost a decade working on policy and communications and served as a liaison between government agencies, congress, press, and other external stakeholders. While working in DC, I started my own niche perfume brand, Urban Forest Perfume Co., where I developed the branding and scents myself!
In 2019, I decided to do a career pivot so I packed my bags and moved to Florence, Italy where I studied all aspects of the fashion industry eventually earning a Masters from Polimoda in Sustainable Fashion.
Over the past 2 years, I've had the privilege of working with the some of the most well known retailers and brands at Better Cotton, the world's largest cotton sustainability program. In my work, I focus on helping Members make claims and build communications strategies at are in alignment with the Better Cotton Claims Framework. We are at an exciting turning point in the world of claims and the marketing of sustainability with legislative and regulatory bodies around the world taking action against greenwashing and misleading claims.
In addition to my work at Better Cotton, I'm also a co-Community Organizer for the state of Florida for Remake, a global advocacy organization uniting changemakers in the fight for human rights and climate justice in the clothing industry.
Along with the many sustainability websites of Better Cotton Members, my writing has been featured in publications such as Vogue Italia.
